Fun and Function: Who are you and your kids?
Adrena Luster: I'm Adrena Luster, and my child is Qualin, 2 1/2 yrs old.
FF: What is the nature of their special needs?
AL: Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome and ADHD.
FF: What would you say is your biggest challenge in raising a child with special needs?
AL: Juggling daily life and equally sharing your attention with your other children.
FF: What would you say is your greatest joy in raising your children?
AL: Every day I learn something new. There's never a dull moment.
FF: What would you say has been the biggest help you in raising your kids?
AL: ECI's grant to help pay for childcare so I can have some "me" time, as well as my child's speech therapist.
FF: Give us one tool you would hate to live without.
AL: My child's safety leash. I wouldn't dare enter a mall or busy event without it.
FF: If you could give one piece of advice to another parent who's child has just been diagnosed, what would it be?
AL: Treat your child like he/she does not have a disability and stay positive about the situation.
FF: And finally, an addition to our interview series, how do you help your kids make it through summer?
AL: Keep them busy and happy :)
