We have a new Featured Professional to introduce you to! Kathy works with kids with special needs and graciously answered a few questions.
Fun and Function: Who are you and what is your profession?
Kathy Dragon: I'm Kathy Dragon, and I'm a Speech and Language Assistant for 3-5 year olds.
FF: What company do you work with?
KD: Memorial School.
FF: What is Nature of special needs you work with the most?
KD: Autistic, Down Syndrome, and the language impaired.
FF: What would you say is your biggest challenge in working with children with special needs?
KD: Carryover at home with the parents.
FF: What is your greatest joy in your job?
KD: The look in the children's eyes when I go to get them from their classroom to work with me, and the progress they make.
FF: What has been the greatest help to you in your profession?
KD: My supervisor.
FF: Give us one tool you would hate to live without?
KD: BOOKS!
FF: If you could give one piece of advice to a parent who's child has just been diagnosed, what would it be?
KD: Take one day at a time. Your child will progress when they are ready.
